OVIA enhances its presence in the Greater Bay Area with a new strategic partnership in Hengqin

On June 5, OVIA met with the Economic Development Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao Deepened Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, led by its President, Wu Chuangwei. The meeting aimed to enhance institutional ties between Oeiras and Hengqin, one of the most dynamic special economic zones in the Greater Bay Area. This zone’s mission is to foster economic integration between Macau and southern China, promoting international investment, innovation, and the development of strategic sectors such as biotechnology, the digital economy, health, and emerging technologies.

During this meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between OVIA and the Guangdong Hengqin China-Portugal Economic and Trade Center Operation and Management Company. This agreement establishes a formal basis for cooperation, including mutual support for the establishment of Portuguese companies in Hengqin, the promotion of joint events, and the identification of investment opportunities in both territories.

This partnership strengthens OVIA’s position as a European platform for the internationalization of technological and innovative companies, enhancing Oeiras’ role as a key connection point between Portugal, China, and Portuguese-speaking countries.

Overall, this new agreement solidifies Oeiras’ institutional presence in the Greater Bay Area and opens new prospects for joint projects with high added value, focusing on innovation, talent, and international cooperation.
