On October 31, OVIA’s Secretary General, Tiago Sousa Dias, attended a meeting to draw up the Oeiras Climate Action and Energy Plan (PAECO).
In 2009, Oeiras was one of the first portuguese municipalities to join the Covenant of Mayors for Sustainable Energy, reiterating its commitments in this regard and becoming a signatory to the Covenant of Mayors for Energy and Climate – which establishes new climate and energy objectives and targets – in 2016.
Currently, the Municipality of Oeiras is preparing the PAECO, continuing its journey towards achieving the decarbonization goals, and the adaptation and resilience of the Municipality in the face of climate change.
To contribute to the Plan, OVIA participated along with other entities that operate directly or indirectly in mitigating and adapting to climate change, debating and outlining actions and projects covered by seven strategic axes, which achieve a 70% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2023, based on 2008 emissions, as well as achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
