On March 20, Commissioner Liu Xianfa met with the representatives of the business delegation of Oeiras and had friendly exchanges with the Deputy Mayor of Oeiras, Dr. Francisco Rocha Gonçalves, and OVIA´s Chairman of the Board and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador António Martins da Cruz.
Dr. Liu Xianfa welcomed the Deputy Mayor and the Ambassador and comprehensively introduced the successful Macao characteristics and the achievements of its economic, social, and cultural undertakings, stating that this year marks Macao’s return to its motherland. The 25th anniversary also marks the 5th anniversary of the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the year when the Hengqin In-depth Cooperation Zone achieved the first phase of development goals, creating new opportunities for investment, exchanges, and cooperation between Portugal and China.
The business delegation representatives expressed their appreciation to the Commissioner for the meeting, shared a detailed introduction to the current situation of economic and social development of Oeiras and Portugal, and the investment cooperation carried out by China in Portugal, having underlined Portugal and China´s long history of friendship and great potential for continued cooperation, namely in the fields of science and technology, finance, new energy, and health, to renew and strengthen the ties between Portugal and China while sharing development opportunities.
