On March 19, as part of the Business Mission to Macau, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Zhuhai organized by the investment agency, a meeting was held between the Municipality of Oeiras, OVIA, and the Secretariat for Economy and Finance of the Macao SAR Government.
To present Oeiras and Macau, the Deputy Mayor of Oeiras, Dr. Francisco Rocha Gonçalves, the Municipal Director of General Administration, Dr. Paula Saraiva, the Chairman of the Board of OVIA, as well as its Vice-Presidents, Dr. Pedro Matias and Dr. Sílvia Almeida, and the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Dr. Lei Wai Nong, discussed the municipality’s strengths and existing opportunities, the objectives of Oeiras Valley and OVIA in attracting and retaining investment in the municipality, and the areas of governance and the work undertaken by the Secretariat in promoting foreign trade and economic activities.
During the meeting, which took place at the Secretariat’s headquarters, strategies were also discussed on how to find and identify economic partners for Portuguese companies wishing to start up and establish themselves in the Macau SAR, having the Secretariat shown its openness to assisting all economic agents aiming to contribute to the local economy and trade.
The Secretary for Economy and Finance exercises powers in the industrial and commercial sectors, technological development, and foreign trade, except where the law or administrative regulation expressly refers to the competence of another Secretary, in public financial administration and fiscal affairs, in gaming and tourism, in labor, employment and vocational training, in the monetary, exchange and financial system, including insurance, in statistical production and consumer protection.
