Portugal and China deepen economic and institutional ties at the 10th Portugal-China Gala

The 10th Portugal-China Gala 2025, organized by the Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCILC), once again stood out as one of the most significant moments of celebration, recognition, and cooperation between the two countries.
Held on October 29th at Casino Estoril, the event brought together prominent figures from the business and institutional spheres, highlighting the vitality and potential of the economic and cultural relations between Portugal and China.

The Oeiras Valley Investment Agency (OVIA) was represented by its President, Ambassador António Martins da Cruz, and its Secretary-General, Tiago Sousa Dias, underscoring the importance of economic diplomacy and international collaboration in attracting investment and fostering innovation.

During the ceremony, Ambassador António Martins da Cruz played a particularly distinguished role by presenting, for the first time, the General Vasco Rocha Vieira Award, which honors individuals with remarkable contributions to strengthening economic relations between Portugal and China. The award was granted to Dr. Jorge Rangel, President of the International Institute of Macau, and to Dr. Carlos Cid Álvares, President of the Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Macau Delegation.

The Gala was further honored by the presence of several renowned institutional and business figures, including Dr. Pedro Machado, Secretary of State for Tourism, Commerce and Services; Dr. Madalena Oliveira e Silva, President of AICEP; Dr. António Noronha, President of the CCILC; and Dr. Hu Bin, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Portugal.

This event reaffirmed Portugal’s consolidated role as a platform for cooperation between Europe, China, and the Portuguese-speaking countries, strengthening the shared commitment to sustainable investment, technological innovation, and the development of mutual economic opportunities.

The participation of OVIA in this important event once again reflects its commitment to promoting Oeiras as an ecosystem of excellence for foreign investment, science, and technology, fully aligned with the internationalization and economic diplomacy strategy that the Agency has been consolidating in recent years.
