Perspectives on energy challenges and targets for 2025 by the President of FAE – Forum of Business Administrators and Managers

Speaking to Jornal de Negócios, Paulo Carmona, President of FAE – Fórum de Administradores e Gestores de Empresas (Forum of Business Administrators and Managers), an OVIA Member, and President of the Directorate-General for Energy and Geology (DGEG), highlighted the challenges that Portugal will face in 2025 in meeting the goals of the National Energy and Climate Plan (PNEC), pointing to the use of natural energy resources as a priority, such as wind, solar, and geothermal energy, as well as water storage capacity.

The President of DGEG also stressed the importance of an energy policy based on common sense, balancing technological progress and the urgency of the energy transition. “Environmental protection must go hand in hand with streamlining public administration,” said Paulo Carmona, warning of the need for more efficient processes and structures in government bodies.

Carmona also mentioned that a set of administrative and organizational reforms would be essential if Portugal were to achieve its goals. “Making a difference requires commitment and a clear vision for the country’s energy future,” he concluded.

Paulo Carmona’s statements thus reinforce DGEG’s commitment to sustainability and innovation, marking the year 2025 as a critical period for the evolution of the energy sector in Portugal and its positioning in the global market.
