On May 21, OVIA’s second Strategic Council was held at the Lagoas Park Hotel in Oeiras, bringing together its Members, the Board of Directors, the Chairman of the General Assembly, and OVIA’s Members.
The meeting commenced with a presentation by the Head of the Navy’s Innovation and Transformation Division, Commander João Piedade, on the subject of “Transformation, Modernization, and Innovation in the Portuguese Navy”, after which the OVIA´s Chairman of the Board, Ambassador António Martins da Cruz, commenced the discussion of the working agenda.
After summarizing the activities carried out by the Investment Agency since November 2023, when the first Strategic Council was held, the outcomes of the Business Mission to Macau, Shenzhen, and Zhuhai in March were presented, conveying that meetings were held in Oeiras with entities visited during the mission and cooperation protocols were signed, namely with the Bao’an District of Shenzhen, the Macau Delegation of the Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCILC) and the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM).
There was also a presentation of the activities planned for 2024, to which OVIA members will greatly contribute, such as business missions and other relevant events.
A pertinent analysis of Portugal and Oeiras in the current geopolitical and economic context concluded the meeting, as well as suggestions for encouraging investment.
