On May 13, OVIA welcomed an official delegation from the People’s Government of Xicheng District, Beijing, at its headquarters for an institutional visit aimed at deepening cooperation between Portugal and China.
The Chinese delegation expressed particular interest in developing exchanges and joint projects in the areas of urban governance, education, innovation, and economic development, building on previous contacts established between both parties.
The reception was attended by the President of OVIA, Ambassador António Martins da Cruz, and the Secretary-General, Tiago Sousa Dias, who presented Oeiras Valley’s strategic positioning as an international ecosystem of innovation, science, technology, and investment.
During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between OVIA and the Xicheng District Urban Management Committee, establishing a cooperation platform focused on information exchange, sharing of best practices, and the promotion of academic, economic, and investment collaboration opportunities between Portugal and China.
The agreement also encourages cooperation between public and private entities from both territories, contributing to the strengthening of institutional relations and the development of future joint initiatives.
The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding represents another step in OVIA’s internationalization strategy and in strengthening ties between Oeiras Valley and some of China’s most important urban and economic regions.
