OVIA strengthens ties in the Lusophone financial sector with BNU meeting in Macau

On June 6, OVIA met with Carlos Cid Álvares, the President of Banco Nacional Ultramarino – BNU, in Macau. This meeting followed up on discussions held in March 2024, during a mission led by OVIA that included Francisco Rocha Gonçalves, the Deputy Mayor of Oeiras.

BNU, a historic institution in the financial relations between Portugal and Macau, plays a vital role in supporting bilateral investments and financing projects that connect Europe and China, particularly along the Macau-Lusophone Countries axis.

During the meeting, OVIA and BNU explored opportunities for future cooperation in several areas, including business internationalization, innovation funding, and support for sustainable development projects. This collaboration is intended to benefit both the municipality of Oeiras and the broader Lusophone community.

OVIA emphasized the importance of having financial partners who possess a deep understanding of both European and Asian economic contexts. This knowledge is essential for supporting member companies and establishing strong links between the two markets.

Overall, this meeting highlights OVIA’s role as a facilitator of strategic relationships between the financial sector and the business community, while also positioning Oeiras as a reliable and attractive destination for foreign investment, fostered by ongoing institutional cooperation and a shared vision.
