OVIA strengthens its international presence through an economic and institutional mission to the Greater Bay Area of China

Between 1 and 5 June, OVIA organized and participated in the economic and institutional mission promoted by the Regional Government of Madeira to Macau, Hengqin and Hong Kong, represented by its Secretary-General, Tiago Sousa Dias. The delegation included representatives from the Regional Government of Madeira, Invest Madeira, the University of Madeira, ACIF-CCIM – the Madeira Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Portuguese business entities.

OVIA’s participation follows the work it has been developing over recent years in the international promotion of Oeiras Valley through the organization of business and institutional missions to strategic markets, the attraction of foreign investment, and the positioning of Oeiras as one of Europe’s most dynamic ecosystems for innovation, science, technology and economic development.

This presence is particularly significant following the recent signing of a cooperation agreement between OVIA and Invest Madeira, the entity responsible for promoting investment, internationalization and economic development in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, supporting national and international investors in identifying business opportunities and implementing investment projects in the region.

Throughout the mission, the delegation held meetings with government entities, universities, business associations, financial institutions and investment promotion organizations in Macau, Hengqin and Hong Kong, including the Consulate-General of Portugal in Macau and Hong Kong, IPIM – the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, Forum Macao, BNU – Banco Nacional Ultramarino, Invest Hong Kong, and various business and academic associations.

During these engagements, OVIA contributed to the promotion of Madeira as a modern, competitive European region open to international investment, while simultaneously showcasing the best practices of Oeiras Valley in economic development, innovation, business attraction and the creation of knowledge-based ecosystems.

The mission also enabled the strengthening of institutional and business ties between Portugal and the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area, identifying new opportunities for cooperation in the fields of innovation, healthcare, technology, education, investment, infrastructure and business internationalization.
