On June 2, the President of OVIA, Ambassador António Martins da Cruz, and the Secretary-General of OVIA, Tiago Sousa Dias, met with Professor Sun Dong, the Secretary for Innovation, Technology, and Industry of the Hong Kong SAR Government, at the government offices of the Special Administrative Region.
The primary purpose of this meeting was to follow up on the discussions that took place on March 6 in Oeiras, where a delegation of high-level members from Hong Kong, led by Professor Sun Dong, visited. During that meeting, potential collaboration opportunities in the areas of innovation and technology between the Oeiras Valley and the Greater Bay Area ecosystems were explored.
During the recent meeting, strategic issues were addressed, including the enhancement of institutional cooperation between OVIA and the Hong Kong Secretariat for Industry and Technology. They also discussed the scheduling of future joint initiatives and the participation of entities from Hong Kong, Macau, and the Greater Bay Area in events organized by OVIA and the Secretariat.
This meeting emphasized the shared commitment to strengthening innovation and investment links between Oeiras and major technology hubs in Asia, particularly Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area. It also contributed to the international recognition of Oeiras as a center of excellence for attracting talent, startups, and global technology partnerships.
