OVIA participated in the “Diplomacy and Global Health” conference

On January 22, the Chairman of OVIA’s Board, Ambassador António Martins da Cruz, participated in the “Diplomacy and Global Health” conference, organized by the National School of Public Health at NOVA University Lisbon (ENSP NOVA) and the Health XXI Forum. The event took place in the ENSP NOVA auditorium and brought together renowned experts, leaders, and decision-makers to debate the importance of diplomacy in responding to global health challenges.

Ambassador António Martins da Cruz, renowned for his vast diplomatic career and strategic vision, reinforced the link between OVIA, global innovation, and cooperation initiatives. During the event, which was also attended by personalities such as Ambassador Luís de Almeida Sampaio, Francisco Pavão (Secretary General of the Ministry of Health), Adalberto Campos Fernandes (Professor at ENSP NOVA), and Andreia Lima (President of Fórum Saúde XXI), all attendees discussed methods to align diplomatic efforts that strengthen health systems, promote equity, and improve global responses to health crises.

OVIA’s participation in this initiative underlines the central role it has played in articulating international partnerships and positioning Oeiras as a center of excellence in innovation and health. For the Ambassador, global health challenges cannot be tackled in isolation, and it is essential to foster effective diplomatic dialogues and integrated strategies, which is exactly what initiatives like this conference promote.

The conference also included a time for exchanging ideas and experiences, highlighting the importance of a multidisciplinary approach that brings together diplomacy, health, and innovation. For OVIA, active participation in this conference consolidates its mission to boost Oeiras as an international benchmark in science, technology, and global health.
