OVIA met with the Chair of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers

On January 21, OVIA hosted the President of the Council of Ministers of ECOWAS – the Economic Community of West African States, Suzi Barbosa, for a productive meeting with the Chairman of OVIA’s Board, Ambassador António Martins da Cruz. Held at OVIA’s headquarters, the meeting emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships between Oeiras and ECOWAS, focusing on fostering sustainable investments and enhancing economic relations between Portuguese-speaking countries and ECOWAS member states.

As one of the most influential figures in West African politics and economics, Suzi Barbosa has spearheaded significant initiatives to attract investment to the region. Her leadership was evident during the discussions, which highlighted the shared vision of creating opportunities for growth and collaboration.

A key outcome of the meeting was the proposal for OVIA to organize awareness-raising and networking sessions for entrepreneurs in the Oeiras region. These sessions would aim to showcase ECOWAS’ competitive advantages and business opportunities reflecting OVIA’s strategic commitment to supporting the internationalization of local companies and enhancing their global market presence.

This meeting underscores ECOWAS’ dedication to deepening economic ties with Portuguese-speaking countries while reaffirming OVIA’s pivotal role as a driver of economic development and global outreach.

The partnership opens new horizons for Oeiras, further solidifying the municipality’s position as an international hub and a strategic gateway to West Africa.
