On September 16, OVIA hosted a delegation from the Macau Branch of Bank of China at its headquarters in Oeiras, as part of the study and exchange mission to Portugal held from September 14 to 18, 2026, aimed at strengthening economic and trade cooperation between China and Portugal and identifying new investment opportunities.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador António Martins da Cruz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OVIA, and Ms. Wendy Sun, General Manager of the Corporate Banking and Financial Institutions Department of Bank of China’s Macau Branch, who led the delegation on behalf of the bank.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss a range of cooperation opportunities between OVIA, Bank of China (Macau), and OVIA’s member companies, with particular attention to projects and initiatives with potential interest in the Macau market and to strengthening economic relations between Portugal and the Macao Special Administrative Region.
During the meeting, areas of potential collaboration were identified, and projects and companies associated with OVIA with the potential to develop business, investment, and internationalization opportunities in Macau were also presented, taking into account Bank of China (Macau)’s interest in supporting and working with Portuguese companies pursuing international expansion projects.
The meeting also builds on the close relationship that OVIA has been developing with Bank of China (Macau). In March 2024, during a business mission to Macau organized by OVIA, the organization had already held meetings and engaged in discussions with representatives of the bank as part of a program focused on promoting economic and business relations between Portugal and Macau.
The 2024 business mission also included the participation of Francisco Rocha Gonçalves, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Oeiras, further strengthening the institutional and business dimension of the initiative and OVIA’s commitment to building bridges between Portuguese companies and international partners.
The meeting held in Oeiras therefore represents a continuation of this dialogue and provides an opportunity to further deepen cooperation between the two organizations, particularly by connecting Bank of China (Macau) with companies and projects within OVIA’s network.
