At the invitation of the Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCILC), OVIA took part in the celebration of the 1st anniversary of the BYD brand in Portugal, which took place at Monsantos Open Air.
On May 21, BYD, represented by the Salvador Caetano Group in Portugal and a recent CCILC member, celebrated the first anniversary of its presence in Portugal, with the distinguished attendance of the Ambassador of China, Mr. Zhao Bentang.
During the event, the representatives of the brand shared significant achievements, memorable experiences, and future visions for BYD’s continued growth and development in the Portuguese market, as well as the importance of Portugal-China relations in the European context, and the strategies for strengthening ties and establishing new partnerships for the economic success of both countries, namely in the automotive sector and, in particular, in the electric car segment, words shared by the Ambassador of China.
According to the European Commission, chinese vehicles account for 8% of the EU market, a percentage that could double to 15% by 2025 if the same rate of production is maintained, and two out of every five vehicles sold in China are electric, sales that account for 60% of the world total. According to estimates by Swiss bank UBS, by 2030, three out of five new vehicles sold in China will be powered by electricity, as opposed to fossil fuels.
