OVIA at the 2025 Macao Lusofonia Festival: celebrating culture and strengthening Portuguese-speaking cooperation

The Oeiras Valley Investment Agency (OVIA) participated in the 2025 Macao Lusofonia Festival, one of the most prominent cultural and community events celebrating the ties that unite Portuguese-speaking countries and regions around the world.

Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, the festival took place at the Lusofonia Village in Taipa, bringing together official delegations, businesses, associations, and artists from across the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) in a vibrant celebration of culture, gastronomy, and shared heritage.

OVIA’s participation formed part of its institutional mission to Macao, Hengqin, and Guangzhou, led by Ambassador António Martins da Cruz, President of OVIA, during a week of strategic engagements in innovation, the blue economy, and economic diplomacy.

Throughout the festival, OVIA engaged with representatives of the Lusophone business and academic community in Macao, highlighting Oeiras’ role as a hub for innovation and a meeting point between Portugal and China.
OVIA’s presence underscored its commitment to promoting cooperation among Portuguese-speaking economies and to celebrating the cultural heritage that underpins the Lusophone community’s shared identity.

As Ambassador António Martins da Cruz remarked, Lusophony is also a platform for innovation, where cultural affinity can evolve into concrete opportunities for economic and technological cooperation.

OVIA’s participation in the 2025 Macao Lusofonia Festival reinforces its mission to connect Oeiras with the Lusophone world through culture, knowledge, and innovation, positioning the municipality as a European reference in Portugal–China–CPLP relations.
