OVIA and the Faculty of Business – City University of Macau organized a workshop: “Business Opportunities in the EU”

On October 18 and 19, a workshop on “Business Opportunities in the European Union” was held at the Faculty of Business – City University of Macau. The event was organized by OVIA in partnership with the Faculty of Business – City University of Macau, in Macau.

The workshop was aimed at entrepreneurs, managers, and professionals from China and Southeast Asia. All participants were able to access the tools and information needed to enter the European market and expand their businesses across borders, particularly in light of current developments in China’s special economic zones.

The event commenced with a speech by Ambassador Alexandre Leitão, Consul General of Portugal in Macau and Hong Kong, who emphasized the importance of international trade relations and the strategic role of Oeiras Valley as a gateway to the European Union.

Afterward, the Chairman of the Board of OVIA and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador António Martins da Cruz, took the floor and focused on the dynamics of the European geopolitical panorama, the unique opportunities in Portugal, and the role of Oeiras Valley in promoting business initiatives.

The workshop agenda also featured a variety of speakers, including members of the OVIA delegation, in particular, Pedro Matias, Vice-President of OVIA and Chairman of the Board of ISQ, Rui Gomes Pedro, CEO of Angels Recipes, and João Barata, Director of Magnify Capital Partners, as well as Prof. José Alves, Dean of the Faculty of Business – City University of Macau, and Carlos Cid Alvares, CEO of BNU – Banco Nacional Ultramarino, an important partner in promoting commercial relations between Macau and Portugal. The Overseas Representative of OVIA in the Macau SAR and Greater Bay Area, Gonçalo Neves Lestro, was also part of the delegation and delivered a speech.

The event was also attended by Dr. António Lei, Director of the Economic Development Bureau of the Guangdong-Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, as a guest of honor, with whom OVIA had already met in March and June of the current year, in Hengqin and Oeiras.

The workshop thus aimed to highlight the growing relationship between Oeiras and China, in particular the partnership between the Portuguese construction company Teixeira Duarte and the China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC). This collaboration resulted in an investment of 350 million euros in a prestigious real estate project in Oeiras, including office buildings, residential áreas, and commercial spaces integrated into a large park.

On the second day of the workshop, the OVIA delegation and all the participants had the opportunity to visit the Guangdong-Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. This visit included discussions on operational plans and recent developments, as well as a networking lunch.
