OVIA and the Consul General of Portugal in Macau and Hong Kong celebrate diplomatic dialog at institutional dinner

On June 5, an institutional dinner was hosted by the Consul General of Portugal in Macau and Hong Kong, Ambassador Alexandre Leitão, at his official residence. This meeting followed up on a previous gathering held in March 2024 and aimed to strengthen the institutional ties between the two entities.

During the reception, the OVIA delegation explored key aspects of the strategic dialogue, placing special emphasis on ongoing initiatives in the Blue Economy and business internationalization. These areas have been identified as priorities by the Consul General since the beginning of his tenure.

The dinner was characterized by a cordial and conversational atmosphere, allowing for the exchange of views on the impacts of the Greater Bay Area, Macau’s role as a bridge between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, and the increasing importance of the Portuguese presence in the territory.

This event bolstered OVIA’s network of contacts in Macau, underscoring the mutual commitment to empower Portuguese companies and foster joint projects in innovation, culture, and economic diplomacy.

Ambassador Alexandre Leitão emphasized during the dinner his realistic optimism regarding the Portuguese community in Macau, asserting that their presence continues to be an asset for the region, particularly in the Greater Bay Area market.

For OVIA, these meetings serve not only as diplomatic occasions but also as strategic platforms for implementing concrete actions, strengthening institutional channels, and creating lasting synergies with key partners in Macau.
