Oeiras Valley and the University of São Paulo: forging new horizons through strategic synergy

On 5 March, OVIA held an online meeting with representatives of the University of São Paulo (USP), widely regarded as one of the most prestigious academic institutions in the world.

The meeting included the participation of Roberto Garcia, representing the Brazilian university, and was also facilitated by OVIA’s International Representative in São Paulo, João Pedro Neto.

The University of São Paulo is internationally recognised as one of the leading global universities, frequently ranked among the top universities worldwide in several international rankings. It stands out for its scientific excellence, the scale of its research system and the global impact of its academic ecosystem.

During the meeting, possible areas of cooperation between OVIA and USP were discussed, including innovation initiatives, knowledge transfer, academic collaboration and the development of joint projects between universities, research centres and companies.

Among the topics addressed was the USP “School of the Future” project, a think tank focused on educational innovation, the development of new digital skills and the connection between technology, education and society.

The meeting made it possible to identify promising synergies between the scientific ecosystem of Oeiras Valley and the academic environment of the University of São Paulo, paving the way for future collaboration in areas such as technology, entrepreneurship, innovation and advanced training.

This dialogue strengthens OVIA’s international positioning and confirms the potential for strategic rapprochement between two of the most dynamic knowledge ecosystems in the Portuguese-speaking world.
