Oeiras hosts international forum on maritime decarbonization and green fuels

On 1 and 2 June, the Templo da Poesia in Oeiras hosted the Portugal-China Green Maritime Fuels & Decarbonization Forum 2026, the first major event of the GLOBAL OEIRAS OCEAN DAYS 2026, an international initiative organized by Fórum Oceano in partnership with the Municipality of Oeiras, OVIA and the International Forum for Clean Energy – Macau (IFCE).

Under the theme “Where Blue Innovation Meets Global Action”, the forum brought together experts, policymakers, companies, investors and institutional representatives from various countries to discuss the challenges and opportunities associated with maritime transport decarbonisation and the sector’s energy transition.

Over the course of two days, participants explored topics such as sustainable maritime fuels, green hydrogen, green ammonia, green methanol, e-fuels, green shipping corridors, sustainable port infrastructure, climate finance, and new opportunities for international cooperation between Portugal, Europe and China.

As an institutional partner of Fórum Oceano, OVIA supported this initiative, which contributes to strengthening Oeiras’ position as a hub for innovation, sustainability and engagement with the major global challenges of the blue economy.

The organization of this international forum further confirms Oeiras’ growing recognition as a privileged platform for dialogue between science, business, investment and public policy in the fields of maritime development and energy transition.
