On July 30, the City of Oeiras and OVIA welcomed a delegation from the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), also known as Forum Macao, led by its Secretary-General, Mr. Ji Xianzheng, and composed of 20 members, including the Director-General of the China – PLP Cooperation Fund, Ms. Li Na, and the presidents of companies in the communications, science, and technology sectors.
The reception commenced with a speech by the host, the Councillor for Education, Sports, Science, and Innovation at Oeiras City Hall, Mr. Pedro Patacho, and the subsequent speech by the Secretary-General of Forum Macao, Mr. Ji Xianzheng. After the presentation of the Oeiras Valley promotional video, the Chairman of the Board of OVIA, Ambassador António Martins da Cruz, addressed the attendees, pointing out that “Forum Macao represents a platform for Oeiras that can be very useful for portuguese companies that want to do business or have a presence in China” and that the municipality “is open to investments from Chinese and CPLP companies” and intends to chart a path of excellence for the presence of agents from these latitudes.
Forum Macao’s working visit to Portugal was coordinated by the Directorate-General for Economic Activities (DGAE), who also attended the event. The visit occurred between July 28 and 31. It included meetings with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, AICEP, and the Directorate-General for Maritime Policy.
