On 15 and 16 June, the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), in Oeiras, hosted the Oeiras Bluetech Ocean Forum 2026, one of the flagship events of the GLOBAL OEIRAS OCEAN DAYS 2026, an international initiative dedicated to the blue economy, ocean innovation, investment and global cooperation.
Organized by Fórum Oceano in partnership with the Municipality of Oeiras, OVIA and the International Forum for Clean Energy – Macau (IFCE), the event brought together researchers, technology companies, investors, government representatives, international clusters and scientific organisations to discuss the future of ocean-related innovation.
The programme highlighted initiatives such as Hub Azul Portugal, the Portugal Blue Digital Hub, the internationalization of Portuguese blue tech companies, financing mechanisms for blue economy projects, and the development of technological solutions to address global maritime challenges.
Throughout the forum, innovative projects, business success stories and new investment opportunities were presented, fostering stronger links between science, technology, capital and markets.
OVIA’s participation aligns with its strategy of promoting Oeiras as an international ecosystem of knowledge and innovation, further strengthening the municipality’s role in attracting investment and creating new economic opportunities linked to the maritime sector, sustainability and emerging technologies.
Through the GLOBAL OEIRAS OCEAN DAYS 2026, Oeiras continues to consolidate its position as one of Europe’s leading platforms for discussion and development within the emerging global blue economy.
