On April 3, the Oeiras delegation visited the Dell Technologies campus in Limerick, one of the multinational’s most prominent and dynamic centers in Europe. This visit was part of a mission to Ireland organized by the Investment Agency, characterized by a strategic exchange of ideas focused on technology, innovation, and sustainable development.
The local leadership team, including Sean O’Reilly, Vice President of Dell Technologies, welcomed the delegation. They had the opportunity to learn about the company’s innovative infrastructure, ongoing research and development projects, and its strong commitment to the economic, social, and environmental advancement of the Limerick region. The Limerick facility employs hundreds of skilled professionals and serves as a reference point for applying technology with real-world effects across various sectors.
The visit showcased groundbreaking initiatives in areas such as healthcare, well-being, and active aging, where virtual reality and artificial intelligence are being used to support patient rehabilitation, deliver immersive cognitive stimulation to seniors, and create advanced learning and training environments. These projects exemplify how technology can be leveraged to enhance lives, address societal challenges, and humanize innovation.
In addition to the technological showcases, the visit underscored Dell’s pivotal role in Limerick’s emergence as a European technology hub, influencing not only the local economy and employment landscape but also fostering close ties with universities and enhancing the region’s global visibility.
For Oeiras, a municipality that shares a strong sense of innovation, technological excellence, and the development of collaborative ecosystems with Limerick, the visit was particularly meaningful. Like Limerick, Oeiras is home to global companies, high-tech clusters, and progressive research institutions. The municipality is also implementing an integrated innovation strategy through the Oeiras Valley initiative, which reflects many of the principles observed in Limerick.
The discussions at Dell emphasized the significance of cross-sector partnerships, investing in local talent, and developing technology solutions that directly address the community needs. Dell Technologies’ vision of innovation – one that is purposeful, inclusive, and transformative – aligns perfectly with Oeiras’ strategic ambitions.
This visit highlighting the value of international engagement, shared learning, and global benchmarking. It reaffirmed Oeiras’ commitment to positioning itself as a leading territory in digital transformation, technological leadership, and innovation serving the common good.
