On March 20, the President of BNU – Banco Nacional Ultramarino met with the business delegation from Oeiras led by the Deputy Mayor of Oeiras, Dr. Francisco Rocha Gonçalves, and the Chairman of OVIA, Ambassador António Martins da Cruz, at the Bank’s premises.
In the meeting, all interlocutors discussed Macau’s financial, economic, and legal environment and the support the Bank provides to Portuguese companies setting up in this Special Administrative Region.
The meeting was also attended by members of the Macau Delegation of the Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry, namely its President, Dr. Carlos Álvares and Dr. Carmen Wu, Member of the Board of the Macau Delegation of CCILC, and the future signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between OVIA and the Macau Delegation of CCILC was discussed, which is intended to be an important pillar in Macau for strengthening existing good relations with CCILC in Portugal.
To further strengthen cooperation between the two countries, the Macau Delegation of CCILC was officially established in 1992 to help its members develop business activities in the two countries. As a series of new policies have been implemented by both Macao and China, the Macau Delegation of CCILC will continue to explore opportunities in the two countries based on the current circumstances, as well as use its network and information advantages to help China and Portuguese-speaking countries develop more business activities and establish an economic platform.
The Macao SAR Government has always supported the Macau Delegation of CCILC with a wide range of facilities, helping the Chamber to play a strong role in developing favorable relations for all Macao companies, as well as providing firm assistance to local business organizations, both in Portugal and other Portuguese-speaking countries.
