On February 18, OVIA represented by its Secretary-General, Tiago Sousa Dias, met in Oeiras with a delegation from the HKETO – Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels and Invest Hong Kong, to prepare the visit of officials from the Innovation, Technology and Industry Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government, scheduled for March 2025.
The meeting was attended by Paula Kant, Head of Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong, the entity with which OVIA signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2024, reinforcing the strategic collaboration between the two institutions. Grace Li, Deputy Representative of the HKETO, Paul Leung, Assistant Representative, and Melissa Pascale, Public Relations Officer, were also present.
This visit, which will include representatives from the Hong Kong Science & Technology Park and Cyberport, aims to explore new opportunities for cooperation in innovation, technology, and industry, consolidating Oeiras as a European hub of excellence for research and development.
The preparatory meeting was also essential to align expectations, define agendas, and establish strategic points of collaboration between Oeiras and Hong Kong, reinforcing OVIA’s importance as a catalyst for international partnerships and a promoter of qualified foreign investment, thus reaffirming its commitment to promoting the internationalization of Oeiras, strengthening institutional ties with Hong Kong, and creating new opportunities for economic, technological and scientific development.
