On March 5th, OVIA, within the framework of the European Association of Business and Innovation Districts (EABID), held an online meeting with representatives from the City of Limerick, Ireland, with the aim of exploring the city’s potential membership in the recently established association.
The meeting was attended by Brendan Troy, Head of Economic and Tourism Development at Limerick City and County Council, and Dennis Barry, CEO of Innovate Limerick, as well as members of the EABID leadership.
This engagement follows the institutional mission organized by OVIA to Ireland in April 2025, led by the Mayor of Oeiras, Isaltino Morais, during which strategic contacts were established with Limerick’s innovation ecosystem.
The meeting provided an opportunity to deepen understanding of the EABID model, discuss the institutional framework for Limerick’s potential participation, and identify synergies between the two territories, both strongly committed to developing competitive innovation ecosystems at the European level.
This dialogue represents another step towards consolidating a European network of innovation districts, fostering cooperation among cities with global ambitions.
