Hong Kong´s Secretary for Innovation, Technology, and Industry explored opportunities in Oeiras

On March 6, Oeiras hosted a delegation from Hong Kong led by His Excellency the Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Professor Dong Sun. The event, organized by OVIA and held at the Taguspark Central Hub, aimed to foster technological and economic collaboration between Portugal and Hong Kong.

The reception commenced with welcome remarks by OVIA and PHKCCI – Portugal-Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce and Industry, followed by a speech by Professor Dong Sun, who highlighted the potential for future strategic partnerships between the two regions.

During the event, start-ups and technological institutions from Hong Kong, such as Cyberport, the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute, and the Hong Kong Microelectronics Research and Development Institute, presented their areas of activity and opportunities for cooperation with Portuguese companies.

This OVIA initiative also provided a space for start-ups and companies associated with the Investment Agency to present their projects, consolidating Oeiras as a hub for innovation and attracting foreign investment, and included a period of networking and discussions about future collaborations, reinforcing Oeiras’ position on the global technology and innovation scene.

The visit by the Hong Kong delegation underlines Portugal’s growing importance in the technology sector. It demonstrates the interest of Asian markets in establishing partnerships in the country, strengthening economic ties, and building bridges for future joint initiatives in innovation and technology.

This meeting thus contributes to reinforcing Oeiras’ role as a dynamic ecosystem for start-ups and technology industries, promoting interaction between local and international companies and positioning itself as a strategic hub for investment and technological development.
