The CCILC – Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry awarded the “Greater Bay Area Prize” to OVIA. The award was presented during the 9th Portugal-China Gala, which took place at the Estoril Casino on November 5.
The nomination for this award resulted from the choice of a distinguished jury composed of Maria Celeste Hagatong, Maria de Belém, General Vasco Rocha Vieira, Ambassador Pedro Catarino, and the CCILC President António Noronha, who recognized the role of the Investment Agency in promoting and disseminating the relevance of the Greater Bay Area in the Chinese and Portuguese economic and business context.
The 9th Portugal-China Gala, an annual event to promote and celebrate bilateral relations between the two countries, began with a welcome note from CCILC’s Secretary-General, Bernardo Mendia, and included speeches from CCILC’s President António Noronha, the Secretary of State for the Economy, João Rui Ferreira, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Portugal, Zhao Bentang and Pascal Coppens, a sinologist and expert on China’s economy.
In addition to the prize awarded to OVIA, CCILC also awarded other organizations that have made a notable contribution to strengthening ties between China and Portugal, namely: Embassy of the People’s Republic of China (Entity of the Year Award); EDP Renováveis (Portuguese Investment in China Award); China Construction Portugal (CSCEC), an OVIA member (Chinese Investment in Portugal Award); Altri Group (Foreign Trade Award); Municipality of Leiria (Economic Promotion Award); BYD Portugal (Sustainability Award); and Huawei Portugal (Commitment Award).
