OVIA, represented by its Secretary-General, Tiago Sousa Dias, took part in the distinguished “Friends of Hong Kong Dinner,” hosted by the Portugal-Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHKCCI) and Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK), organisations with which OVIA has established memorandums of understanding. The event, held in Lisbon and integrated into the international agenda surrounding Web Summit 2025, brought together business leaders, investors, diplomats, and institutional representatives with a strategic interest in strengthening relations between Portugal and Hong Kong.
The dinner offered a high-level networking environment, fostering discussions on new opportunities for economic, technological, and commercial cooperation, as well as on ways to deepen connections between both markets in an increasingly competitive global landscape. The presence of figures such as Paula Kant and Kim J. Zietlow from InvestHK, and Paul Leung from the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels, highlighted the relevance of the initiative and Hong Kong’s growing interest in Portugal’s innovation and investment ecosystem.
For OVIA, participation in this event represents an important step forward in its mission to enhance the international visibility of Oeiras Valley, reinforcing engagement with Asian markets known for their technological sophistication and dynamic business environments. Throughout the evening, OVIA’s Secretary-General emphasised Oeiras’ positioning as a prime destination for technology companies, R&D centres, and international investors, promoting synergies that may lead to future strategic partnerships.
The “Friends of Hong Kong Dinner” thus strengthened the bridge-building efforts between Portugal and Hong Kong and reaffirmed OVIA’s role as an active economic-diplomatic agent embedded in leading international networks of innovation and investment.
