Europe’s Challenges Conference, organized by the European League for Economic Cooperation (ELEC), was held yesterday at Taguspark, in Oeiras. The Vice Mayor of Oeiras, Francisco Rocha Gonçalves, chaired the opening session at 3:00 P.M.
Ambassador António Martins da Cruz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oeiras Valley Investment Agency (OVIA), is also President of the Portuguese Section of the European League for Economic Cooperation (ELEC).
Discussion topics included: “New Energy Policies and Opportunities in Europe”, with the participation of the former Minister of Industry and Energy, Luís Mira Amaral, and the former Secretary of State for Science and Innovation and former Director of the European Commission for the Energy sector, Pedro Sampaio Nunes.
At around 4:45 P.M., the Ambassador of Spain to Portugal, Marta Betanzos Roig, initiated the debate on Europe’s future.
The event concluded with a dinner at the Adega do Palácio do Marquês de Pombal attended by the Mayor of Oeiras, Isaltino Morais, and the Minister of Economy and Maritime Affairs, António Costa Silva.
