Tiago Sousa Dias, the Secretary-General of OVIA, participated in the Promotion Seminar for the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Portugal, which took place on May 7 at the InterContinental Lisbon Hotel. The purpose of this event was to enhance economic and trade cooperation between China and Portugal, making it easier for more Portuguese companies and organizations to enter the extensive Chinese market.
The CIIE, recognized as one of the largest import exhibitions in the world, offers a unique platform for presenting international products and services in China. The 2025 edition, which will take place from November 5 to 10 in Shanghai, will cover a business and trade exhibition area of 360,000 m² and will feature various thematic areas, including medical equipment, automobiles, technology, consumer goods, food, and trade services.
OVIA’s participation underlines the strategic importance of the CIIE for bilateral relations, promoting in-depth exchanges and new opportunities for cooperation. The presence of OVIA’s Secretary-General thus reinforces the event’s potential to boost Portuguese exports, particularly those of its member companies, and attract Chinese investment.
The seminar in Lisbon was an initiative of the China International Import Expo Bureau and was supported by various organizations, including the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Portugal. The event is expected to boost Portuguese participation in CIIE 2025, opening doors to promising business deals and lasting partnerships.
