On April 4, OVIA’s mission to Ireland culminated in a strategic visit to Central Park in Dublin, home to one of the main assets of Henderson Park, an international private equity firm specializing in large-scale real estate investments in cities with high growth potential.
The Oeiras delegation, which included representatives from the City Council, OVIA, and its member companies, was welcomed by Dr. Ronan Webster, Director of Asset Management, and Dr. Ger Corbett, CEO of Sandyford Business District, a business association with institutional similarities to OVIA.
During the visit to Central Park – a landmark development in the heart of Dublin and comparable in size to Lagoas Park in Oeiras, also owned by Henderson Park – the members of the delegation had the opportunity to learn about the management model, the redevelopment and modernization projects, the sustainability policies and the business asset valuation strategies adopted by the company.
Henderson Park, with a global presence and offices in London, Dublin, Berlin, Luxembourg, and Charleston (USA), has already invested more than 14 billion dollars in Europe and the United States, focusing on sectors such as hospitality, offices, and logistics. In Portugal, the total investment exceeds 450 million euros, of which more than 20 million were invested in the renovation and modernization of Lagoas Park, an OVIA Associate, promoting sustainable solutions, technological innovation, and continuous improvement of the business and urban experience.
The visit also allowed us to explore the intention shared by Sandyford and Henderson Park to create a European Association of Business Innovation Districts (EABID), a European network of territories and entities dedicated to promoting innovation, sustainability, and urban competitiveness. This association aims to connect business districts across Europe to share best practices, influence policy, and create a collaborative platform for economic development. OVIA has been identified as a natural and strategic partner in this effort.
This meeting was a landmark moment in the mission to Dublin, enabling closer dialogue with an entity with a strong presence and investment in Oeiras, reinforcing the municipality’s international positioning as a territory of excellence for innovation and exploring avenues for European cooperation in the context of sustainable urban development.
The meeting with Henderson Park and the Sandyford Business District once again demonstrated the importance of Oeiras continuing to invest in economic diplomacy, attracting investment, and affirming its strategic vision at the European level, consolidating long-term partnerships that will boost the future of the city and the region.
