On 22 May, the President of OVIA, Ambassador António Martins da Cruz, took part in the Tertúlias do Fontelo initiative in Viseu, dedicated to the theme “Wars in Today’s World”.
The session brought together figures with recognized experience in diplomacy, international affairs and security, fostering an in-depth discussion on today’s geopolitical challenges, the impact of international conflicts and their implications for economic stability and territorial development.
Against the backdrop of a rapidly changing international landscape, the participation of OVIA’s Chairman highlighted the importance of incorporating a strategic understanding of international relations into efforts to enhance territorial competitiveness and attract investment.
Within the central theme of the Tertúlias do Fontelo, the Chairman of OVIA also presented and reflected on the Oeiras Valley ecosystem as a deeply internationalised territory that benefits from an approach grounded in institutional stability, innovation and international cooperation. These are increasingly decisive factors in building investor confidence and strengthening Portugal’s position in global markets.
Ambassador António Martins da Cruz further emphasised that municipalities are now international actors in their own right, playing an increasingly important role in attracting foreign investment.
