In a landmark step towards strengthening economic relations between Portugal and China, the Chairman of OVIA’s Board, Ambassador António Martins da Cruz, was elected Chairman of the Strategic Board of CCILC – Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on May 7. This appointment recognizes not only the leading role he has been playing in the national investment ecosystem, but also the strong synergy between OVIA and CCILC in promoting strategic opportunities between the two countries.
The election represents a symbolic moment in consolidating cooperation between two entities that have actively collaborated in creating solid bridges between Portuguese companies and the vast Chinese market. Through joint initiatives, economic events, and commercial diplomacy actions, OVIA and CCILC have boosted the internationalization of companies, attracted foreign investment, and promoted Luso-Chinese intercultural and business dialogue.
The new Chairman of the Strategic Council brings to the position a vision geared towards innovation, sustainability, and international cooperation. Under his leadership, OVIA has been the protagonist of important bilateral partnerships and has catapulted large-scale investment projects, such as that of the China State Construction Engineering Corporation in partnership with Teixeira Duarte, both OVIA Member Companies, in Oeiras.
The chairmanship of the CCILC Strategic Council thus reinforces Oeiras’ position as a strategic hub connecting China and Europe and reflects the recognition of the importance of the work carried out by OVIA in the context of economic diplomacy and attracting international investment.
This new responsibility paves the way for a deepening of institutional and economic relations between Portugal and China, with a direct impact on the development of innovative projects, the sharing of knowledge, and the strengthening of Portugal’s presence on the Eurasian axis.
