Ambassador António Martins da Cruz appointed President of the Lusophone Countries Branch of the Shenzhen General Chamber of Commerce

The Chairman of the Board of OVIA, Ambassador António Martins da Cruz, has been appointed President of the Lusophone Countries Branch of the Shenzhen General Chamber of Commerce (SGCC), one of China’s leading business organizations, following the formal approval of the appointment by the Chamber’s Council.

The new structure aims to establish a long-term cooperation platform between Chinese companies and entrepreneurs and the Portuguese-speaking countries, promoting investment and collaboration opportunities across areas such as industrial value chains, technological exchange, infrastructure, international trade and cultural relations.

The appointment of Ambassador António Martins da Cruz, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, reinforces the institutional and international dimension of this new platform, against the backdrop of increasingly close economic ties between China and the Portuguese-speaking world.

The Lusophone Countries Branch will also include Cai Wenxian, appointed Honorary President and Senior Advisor, and Zha Ming (John Zha), appointed Executive President & Secretary-General, who will be responsible for the branch’s day-to-day operations, international business relations and project implementation.
