OVIA meets with the Leadership of Guangzhou’s Yuexiu District to explore business cooperation opportunities

On 19 October, the OVIA delegation, led by its President, Ambassador António Martins da Cruz, met with representatives of the leadership and administrative departments of Guangzhou’s Yuexiu District as part of the Agency’s institutional and business mission to China.

The meeting brought together district officials responsible for administration, commerce, education, culture, tourism and sport, providing an opportunity to strengthen institutional dialogue and explore areas of mutual interest between Yuexiu, Oeiras and their respective business ecosystems.

Topics on the meeting agenda included the potential to strengthen economic links between the two territories, cooperation in business internationalisation, the promotion of Portuguese consumer brands and the development of sports-related exchange initiatives, including contacts associated with Sport Lisboa e Benfica.

The discussions also addressed opportunities to support the international expansion of Yuexiu-based companies, particularly in medical technology and prefabricated and modular construction, as well as ways to connect Portuguese and Chinese businesses and partners.

The program also included visits to Singularity Medical Technology (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd. and Guangzhou Oculotronics Medical Equipment Co., Ltd., two companies operating in the medical technology and equipment sector. These visits complemented the institutional discussions with a business-focused perspective, encouraging mutual understanding and the identification of potential areas for collaboration.

Among the members of the visiting delegation were Dr Manuela Cunha, Senior Lawyer at ABREU Advogados, and representatives of JPTreasure Mining Investment Co., Ltd. and the Lusophone Countries Branch of the China Shenzhen Chamber of Commerce.
