OVIA at AICEP Forum 2026: addressing the challenges of Portugal’s internationalization

On September 30, OVIA Secretary-General Tiago Sousa Dias participated in AICEP Forum 2026, held at the Palácio da Bolsa in Porto under the theme “Portugal in the Global Market: Competitiveness and the Future.”

The event brought together companies, business leaders, experts, institutional representatives, and members of AICEP’s international network to discuss the challenges facing Portugal in an international environment shaped by rapid economic, geopolitical, and technological change.

Throughout the day, discussions focused on issues of relevance to OVIA’s work, from the changing landscape of international trade and geopolitics to the internationalization of Portuguese companies, investment, innovation, and the search for new markets.

The program also included discussions on the international promotion of Portugal and the strengthening of the Portugal brand, as well as sessions focused on opportunities arising from the EU-Mercosur Agreement, new markets, and the integration of Portuguese companies into the value chains of international groups operating in Portugal.

OVIA’s participation provided an opportunity to follow these discussions firsthand and strengthen its ties with AICEP and the various stakeholders that make up Portugal’s internationalization ecosystem.

For an agency whose mission is to promote Oeiras as a destination for investment, innovation, entrepreneurship, and internationalization, keeping pace with global markets and maintaining close connections with national and international economic promotion networks is essential.

OVIA’s presence at AICEP Forum 2026 therefore reinforces its commitment to an increasingly international outlook and to identifying opportunities that global markets can offer companies based in Oeiras, while further positioning Oeiras Valley as a globally connected ecosystem integrated into international networks of knowledge, investment, and business.
