On September 28, OVIA Chairman of the Board, Ambassador António Martins da Cruz, participated in a meeting in Washington with the Navy League of the United States, focused on identifying opportunities for Portuguese companies within U.S. defense initiatives and procurement needs.
The meeting is part of OVIA’s strategy to explore new internationalization opportunities for Portuguese companies, connecting them with international markets and networks where they can find partners, customers, investment, and opportunities for growth.
Engagement with the U.S. defense ecosystem is particularly relevant for Portuguese companies with technological and industrial capabilities in areas such as cybersecurity, digital technologies, engineering, advanced systems, space, energy, materials, and other dual-use technologies.
The visit to Washington is therefore part of a broader economic diplomacy and internationalization agenda, with the aim of turning OVIA’s international network of relationships into concrete opportunities for Portuguese companies and the country’s innovation ecosystem.
Ambassador António Martins da Cruz’s participation, drawing on his diplomatic experience and extensive knowledge of international relations, reinforces this institutional dimension and supports a pragmatic approach: connecting Portuguese companies with concrete opportunities in the United States, particularly within one of the world’s largest defense and technology ecosystems.
