Academic cooperation between Portugal and Brazil gained new momentum on 19 November during the International Business Seminar & FINDES – Oeiras Valley Business Meeting, organised by OVIA and FINDES – the Federation of Industries of the State of Espírito Santo.
Within the framework of this event, which brought together companies, universities, technology centres and institutional representatives from both countries, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Universidade Vila Velha (UVV), represented in person by Jefferson Cabral, and Atlântica – Instituto Universitário / ESSATLA, an OVIA member, represented by its Director-General, Natália do Espírito Santo, who joined remotely. The agreement establishes a commitment to technical, scientific, pedagogical and cultural cooperation, providing for the joint development of research projects, academic exchanges, advanced training programmes, specialised consultancy, student and faculty mobility, joint publications and collaboration with laboratories and technology centres.
The signing of this protocol between Atlântica and UVV reinforces the growing relevance of higher education and applied research within the scope of international cooperation, demonstrating OVIA’s role in strengthening ties with Espírito Santo since the Business Mission to Brazil earlier this year, during which key institutional contacts were established. By providing the ideal setting for this agreement, the FINDES – Oeiras Valley Seminar and Business Meeting generated concrete outcomes that bring companies, universities and technology centres from Portugal and Brazil closer together, promoting bilateral opportunities in science, technology, industry and innovation.
This protocol thus marks a new chapter in academic cooperation between Oeiras Valley and Espírito Santo, highlighting the role of OVIA’s higher education members and further strengthening the international positioning of the Municipality of Oeiras as a hub of talent, knowledge and innovation.
