OVIA participates in strategic seminar hosted by the Embassy of China

OVIA took part in the seminar dedicated to China–Portugal cooperation, organised by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Portugal. The event brought together institutional decision-makers, business leaders and representatives from public bodies to reflect on the future of bilateral relations. The invitation extended to OVIA reinforces the recognition of Oeiras Valley’s strategic role within Portugal’s national landscape of innovation, technology and investment.

The seminar highlighted China’s long-term vision and the alignment between the priorities set out in the proposals for its 15th Five-Year Plan and Portugal’s own strategic agenda. The President of the Portugal–China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCILC), António Noronha, underscored that this convergence creates an environment of stability and predictability highly valued by Portuguese companies, opening new prospects for economic, technological and industrial cooperation.

The Deputy Director for Africa, Asia and Oceania at AICEP, Maria Manuel Branco, reaffirmed China’s position as a priority country for Portugal, emphasising strategic areas such as green energy, digitalisation, electric mobility and technological innovation, fields in which Oeiras Valley has established itself as a national leader.

The President of the Portugal–China Parliamentary Friendship Group, Hugo Carneiro, highlighted China’s technological dynamism and the importance of strengthening bilateral investment, also noting the strategic role of the Port of Sines in global logistics chains. Meanwhile, the President of AIMA, Dr. Pedro Portugal Gaspar, emphasised the deep roots of the Chinese community in Portugal, around 30,000 citizens, who form an active part of the country’s social and economic fabric.

OVIA’s participation in this seminar reinforces its commitment to integrating Oeiras Valley into key international cooperation networks and to fostering opportunities for investment and innovation between Portugal, China and the broader global market. The presence of the Investment Agency in this strategic forum further affirms Oeiras as a leading territory for technological development, business internationalisation and the construction of lasting bridges between global economic ecosystems.
