As part of the OVIA Mission to China, taking place from October 19 to 27, with visits to Macau, Hengqin, and Guangzhou, OVIA held a meeting on October 21 in Macau with António Lei, Deputy Secretary-General of the Macao Forum.
The meeting took place at the Service Platform for Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries, focusing on new opportunities for economic, technological, and academic collaboration between Oeiras, Portugal, and the People’s Republic of China, with particular emphasis on innovation and investment ecosystems.
This session marked the first official engagement of OVIA’s mission in Macau, which also includes meetings with the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), the Banco Nacional Ultramarino (BNU), and the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), as well as OVIA’s participation in the Macao Bluetech Ocean Forum.
Through this mission, OVIA reinforces its strategy of international outreach and global partnership building, positioning the Oeiras Valley as a leading hub of innovation and cooperation, while strengthening the historic and economic ties between Portugal, China, and the wider Portuguese-speaking world.
