On June 24, Oeiras hosted an important international meeting with Brazilian municipal leaders, the Municipality of Oeiras, and OVIA, as part of the official visit by the National Front of Mayors – FNP to the municipality. This event, which included technical visits, institutional dialogues, and an exchange of experiences, reinforced Oeiras’ role as a leader in urban innovation and international cooperation.
In the morning, representatives from the FNP, Vice-Presidents Gerson Pessoa (Osasco/SP), Anderson Farias (São José dos Campos/SP), Bruno Cunha Lima (Campina Grande/PB), and Priscila Gambale (Ferraz de Vasconcelos/SP), visited Taguspark, the Luís Freitas Branco Secondary School, and the Social Housing Neighbourhood of Pombal. This provided them with insights into the urban requalification, technological innovations, and housing projects undertaken by the municipality.
In the early afternoon, an institutional lunch was held at the Verso Restaurant, located in the Temple of Poetry. This gathering included the Deputy Mayor of Oeiras, City Councillors, OVIA, its member company ASA Lawyers, the Federation of Industries of Espírito Santo – FINDES, and the Economic Counselor of the Brazilian Embassy in Portugal.
This working lunch served as an important platform for strengthening Portuguese-Brazilian relations at the municipal level and for promoting Oeiras as an urban innovation ecosystem with an international focus. The presence of Francisco Rocha Gonçalves, Deputy Mayor of Oeiras, was particularly significant in welcoming the delegations and highlighting the municipality’s commitment to internationalization and inter-municipal dialogue.
The FNP’s visit to Oeiras represents a significant step towards establishing collaborative networks between Portuguese-speaking cities that face similar challenges and share common ambitions: more innovation, greater inclusion, and a better future.
